This class will teach you how to use View representations in Inventor assemblies. Representations control the visibility and several other characteristics of components within assemblies. Representations let you save specific Views of your assembly to prepare for presentations and create drawings. Proper use of representations will significantly improve your system’s performance when dealing with large, complex assemblies.

Managing the metadata associated with your designs can be a confusing task. If you are using Vault software, the first step in the process is realizing that Vault Properties and Inventor software’s iProperties are actually different. Also, you have to understand the difference between a Vault system property and a Vault user-defined property. Once you understand all the different types of properties involved, how do you get them to work together? This class will guide you through the journey, from understanding the difference between iProperties versus Vault properties and Vault system properties and Vault user-defined properties. Then we will demonstrate how to create the proper mappings that will enable them to work seamlessly together. We will discuss different ways to use this data, from searching Vault for these properties to how to use those properties on drawing title blocks and parts lists.

In this class, you will learn to create custom content for both Autodesk® P&ID and Autodesk Plant 3D software. We will focus on using tools such as legacy AutoCAD® data, previously created AutoCAD 3D solids, and Autodesk® Inventor® to create the content. You will learn to create and modify custom symbols. We will also show you how to create and maintain project templates that contain custom content as well as how to copy custom content from one project to another.

This class will cover a broad range of elements that can be introduced by utilizing the power of iLogic within Inventor software. This 60-minute session will cover it all, from introducing the fundamentals to how more-powerful functions can be applied. We will show examples that organizations take advantage of today using this powerful capability. Topics covered will include developing standards-based designs; capturing engineering knowledge; developing recipes from existing assemblies to help build new designs; creating drawings using the latest updates from Inventor; as well as retrieving data from other sources and automating functions within a file such as CAM and FEA.

The Inventor software Content Center is a powerful tool that enables centralized storage and management of standard parts within a company, as well as providing a springboard to efficient design tools such as Frame Generator, Bolted Connections, and Tube and Pipe. However, to make the tool as flexible as possible, the Content Center uses highly technical names for components (ANSI, and so on). Perhaps you like to label your pan head machine screws as “ANSI.B18.6.3…” but that doesn’t work for many others. Additionally, while the out-of-the-box Content Center is extensive, it does not contain any of our specific components. So, whether you decide to use a vendor’s or your own part numbers, or you want to utilize existing data or add your own, this is the class for you. In this course, we’ll cover how to build custom Content Center structure, how to modify existing data or publish our own data, and how to simplify the end user’s experience and ensure data serves downstream processes. In every way, we will make the Content Center our own!

You may have thought Inventor Nesting software is just geared toward sheet metal components. Learn how to use Inventor Nesting for other types of components and materials. Even if these designs come from AutoCAD software, other 3D CAD applications, IGES/STEP, or they reside in a DXF file format, this session will cover how to use different file formats in your nesting process. From setting up your raw materials, templates, and nesting studies to exporting the results back to your computer numerical control (CNC) process, this class will clearly demonstrate that Inventor Nesting isn't just about sheet metal. In addition, this class will offer an extra bonus demonstrating how the Inventor Nesting interface can be used to optimize a saw cut list and costing study for your bar stock material

iLogic is by far the most used application within Inventor software. Vault software is the most used product data management (PDM) system for Inventor. This class elaborates on how both can collaborate by connecting to each other. Attending this class, you will discover the answer to these four questions: What can you achieve for iLogic rule execution if your rule connects to Vault? How can you achieve the iLogic-Vault connection without knowing the Vault API? What can you achieve for Vault Job Processor if your Job connects to iLogic? How can you capitalize on iLogic rules while running custom jobs?

AutoCAD MEP 2015 software, a world-class design and drafting application, is the Zen master of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design software. The software continues to lead the way in everything from design to fabrication to owner for excellent workflows. In this fast-paced lecture we will take a look at creating custom content. We will start by using Inventor software to create a more detailed model. Next, we will use this model to create a new multiview part. Once the part is defined you will learn a quick way to use the new symbol and annotation planes to add line-based symbols, and then you'll create a new catalog to store your custom content. Every AutoCAD MEP software user should learn how to use the overwhelming volume of manufacturer's 3D content; this lab will help you learn how to do that.
