Contemporary rail projects are vastly complex due to an intersection of several key factors. The deliverables and support that agencies and contractors ask for are scaling with new technology. These technologies are relatively new to the rail design space, and there are currently no precedents for implementing them. On two similar rail projects, tailored workflows and custom automation tools were developed in order to deliver the required standard documentation, visualization, clash detection, and asset management deliverables. The synergy between automation, connected BIM, and creative project workflow were essential to the execution of these projects. In this session, we’ll examine the project needs, collaboration between BIM 360 software and ProjectWise, and automation with the Subassembly Composer, Dynamo, Forge, and LISP.

This presentation will cover the transformation of the business model of imos AG. imos AG started as a CAD/CAM software developer specialising in the furniture and woodworking industries. Today their approach is to cover the whole value chain from point of sale through to production, where web based technology is used to integrate the consumer into the information management. After introducing the specific requirements of the furniture market and the software solutions that imos AG has developed, the presentation will concentrate on the usage of Autodesk technology. The first products imos AG developed were on AutoCAD or AutoCAD OEM. Then imos AG developed their own web based technology. Today Forge is used inside a web based product configuration software. The plan is to integrate Forge into more products. The final part of the presentation will cover two customer examples where Forge technology is used to enable the information flow between consumer experience and production control.

This masterclass will cover how to link PlanGrid with next-generation BIM 360 Docs software by utilizing the power of data collection through BIM 360 workflows and PlanGrid field reports. The speaker will be able to demonstrate the added benefit of being able to maximize data for trend analysis via Microsoft Power Bi and automatic modeling by integrating the output with Dynamo software. We will cover basic principles of PlanGrid and usability for the average user, alongside best practices, work-arounds, shortcuts, limitations, and benefits. We will explore an array of case studies, giving live project application examples and how they’ve integrated with external tools, such as What3Words.

In this class, we will introduce you to BIM 360 Docs software’s API. BIM 360 Docs software is a cloud-based document management system tailored specifically for construction projects. As the document at the center of BIM 360 family products, BIM 360 Docs software promises to play an important role for unified development of the BIM 360 mobile and web platform. BIM 360 Docs software provides an API as a part of the Forge Platform Data Management API. Using the Forge Platform API, you can access documents stored in BIM 360 Docs software, display models using the Viewing API, and search data in the model. Using the API, for example, you can automate updating models from external applications, make a report to keep track of a team’s progress, and connect your own web services applications with BIM 360 Docs projects. We will show you how to get started with the BIM 360 Docs API, share examples of use cases, and demonstrate what you can do using the BIM 360 Docs API. This session features BIM 360 Docs and Forge. Within the industrial water market, it can be a real challenge to bridge the gap between tools that are great for designing buildings and tools that are great for designing process plants. Achieving design synchronization between spatial and schematic designs with a high level of confidence is the ultimate goal. However, producing process schematics and spatial drawings and managing the equipment data becomes complex when dealing with traditional data silos in current project execution processes. True data-driven workflows will require innovation and disruption to achieve next-level results. This is one story of how Revit software, Dynamo, and Forge have helped us look at this traditional problem from a new perspective. We’ve solved some longstanding challenges, and we still have some unanswered questions, but we’re excited and optimistic about the possibilities for the future.

Availability of BIM 360 Model Coordination software made the clash detection portion completely automatic; i.e., uploading files to a given space or a folder in BIM 360 Docs software automatically triggers cloud-based, Navisworks-like, clash-detection service. However, how to interpret those result and resolve the issues are currently completely left up to the users. In this session, we will explore possibilities to further automate some portion of analyzing clashes and suggesting possible resolution options. We approach this goal by making use of all the available Forge capabilities, combining the BIM 360 Model Coordination API to detect clashes, keeping track of issues and resolution with the Issues API to accumulate as a knowledge base, and suggesting/making possible changes to the model using Design Automations for Revit software. We will share how much we accomplished with our dream project, and how we did it.

In this class, you'll learn how to use AWS Amplify to connect your Autodesk add-ins to a database and let your users exchange data. You'll also learn how to use AWS Amplify and React to host the Forge Viewer to build clients custom web dashboards with authentication for your clients. AWS Amplify is a complete solution you can use to build and host full-stack applications, letting you concentrate on app development and avoid spending time and money on server maintenance and complex admin tasks. Adding database, account authentication, file storage, and several other functions can be achieved quickly using a command line interface, which makes it very easy to start new projects.

Learn how to implement Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes through the use of iConstruct. This class will develop the skills required to process the model from the desktop to the cloud utilizing the iConstruct Forge AWP application. Learn about the opportunities to create efficient workflows through the use of the iConstruct tool suite and how this will enable efficient Work Package management in the Forge Viewer. Learn strategies on how to optimize the model, such as changing the hierarchy of the model, data integration, status visualization, work hours, and the addition of further Work Pack attributes. Plus, see how this may integrate with BIM 360 Docs software and other project systems.

More and more companies are moving to a configure-to-order approach, making their products modular and configurable. Where in the past each customer order was designed separately, with a product configurator, every order is compiled from existing modules. The automated output of the configured product (quote, visuals, Bill of Materials) can be used in the downstream processes. This means a significant reduction in the turnaround time for lengthy processes such as quoting, planning, and engineering. The Forge platform offers with the Design Automation API for Inventor software a technology to build a web-based configurator, automating BOM, pricing, and 3D-visualization delivery. Besides that, Fusion Lifecycle software offers the perfect platform for managing the business-wide workflows, like the management of downstream engineering, sales, and change processes. Autodesk Research has been exploring the intersection of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and Internet of Things (IoT) for the last decade. Project Dasher (http://dasher360.com) integrates sensor data with model data from Autodesk's Forge platform to contextualize IoT data in 3D. This session will look at what is happening with Dasher, but also will talk in detail about the Forge capabilities that Dasher has used—which are available to all Forge developers—to build a digital twin integrating real-world performance data.

The class is using real world example of Forge based enterprise solution - spare part management system - which was created as joint effort between Andritz AG and Autodesk Consulting. The solution is simplifying ordering process of spare parts and reduces bidding process from weeks to hours. The class describes how to design and develop large scale applications using modern web technologies (Angular, Node.js), how to use Forge and integrate data from various sources - both cloud and on premise (i.e. SAP). It also provides some insights about using cloud services such as Microsoft Azure. Attendees of the class will learn about reusable patterns of cloud solutions. It also provides useful tips for developing large scale web applications - how to deploy application and operate solution for production use, how improve performance of application, how to monitor running application and troubleshoot issues.

Sabesp is the largest sanitation company in the Americas and one of the largest in the world. It is responsible for water supply and sewage collection in 375 municipalities, serving 28+ million people. The company's large numbers are accompanied by complex challenges. This presentation will explore the experience of an ambitious corporate building information modeling (BIM) implementation program, in its first wave of implementation. This implementation has as one of its main objectives the development of and access to asset information with a focus on commissioning. The program is in its second year of implementation, and you'll be able to check the advances obtained in themes that include: development of libraries and templates, development of unified processes for the use of a common data environment [Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Docs, and Autodesk Platform Services (formerly Forge)], GeoBIM integration (Autodesk and Esri/GE SmallWorld), and BIM and ERP (SAP) integration. The entire technology base used in this implementation is supported by Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection from Autodesk.

Fabrication Data Manager is the new cloud-based offering that enables database management in the cloud. Built on the Autodesk Platform Services platform (formerly Forge), the new UI facilitates intuitive visual management for collaboration and consumption in both Revit software and Fabrication authoring products.

What are the possibilities when we talk about IoT (Internet of Things) and BIM (Building Information Modeling)? Well, when we integrate through Forge intelligent models and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub, we can have a world of possibilities and insight with machine learning. In this lecture, you will see how data collected with BIM 360 software to make an inventory were connected with equipment in the building to monitor what was going on and make predictive analysis, in order to cut building maintenance costs. You’ll see how BIM 360 Ops software can be used to open and close maintenance tickets.

Machine Learning (ML) techniques are now widely being used in almost all industries. This course focuses on how you can use ML in  the design of Mechanical Systems. We will share our insights on developing a methodology for quickly building a ML design app for the most common control valve type (the Symmetric Butterfly Valve), and how you can use numerical or experimental data generated from simulationHub to train your models. This class will step through machine learning fundamentals, data analysis, training and validating a ML model; and how to generate new 3D designs based on ML using Autodesk Forge.
