This class will go into detail about the Analyze Gravity Network workflow so you can see all the steps of the process. We’ll also go over tricks we’ve found to speed up tasks (like part size mapping and creating catchments), address project requirements like clogging factors, and review some ways to visualize the spread analysis using Microsoft Excel and Dynamo software.

This class will dig into Revit software with tips and tricks from the low-hanging fruit (symbols, text, and standards) and things to consider (metric, Imperial or soft metric, geographies, and so on). We'll look at using note block content for abbreviation lists and schedules, processing diagrams using custom families, and keynoting. We'll cover assemblies codes, what view templates are and how to use them effectively for consistency from templates forward, sample practices for view naming and browser management in anticipation of exports, and ways of managing work sets in local and linked files to help speed up your system by simply organizing data. We'll also look at how work sets track through links, schema for management, best practices on file sizes, and how to push those limits and possibly a few Dynamo Scripts to assist in management and setups of projects.

Voorbij Prefab is a highly automated concrete factory in the Netherlands that produces wall elements for housing. At Voorbij Prefab, the clients’ Revit models are directly used to generate data for the robots. This class will show the complete workflow. It starts with managing the clients to get uniform models, then combining the Revit models, and using Dynamo to add all the concrete detailing. Using IDAT software, based on AutoCAD software, reinforcement is added and files are created to feed the robots. Finally, BIM 360 Field software is used in combination with QR codes to scan and view the precast elements on the building site. Not only will we explain this workflow, we’ll do it from start to finish during this one-hour class—and an element by choice will be produced live in the factory in Amsterdam! At the end of this class, we’ll take a look into the future regarding how the Structural Precast Extension in combination with IDAT tools can be used to produce even more efficiently with Revit software.

Contemporary rail projects are vastly complex due to an intersection of several key factors. The deliverables and support that agencies and contractors ask for are scaling with new technology. These technologies are relatively new to the rail design space, and there are currently no precedents for implementing them. On two similar rail projects, tailored workflows and custom automation tools were developed in order to deliver the required standard documentation, visualization, clash detection, and asset management deliverables. The synergy between automation, connected BIM, and creative project workflow were essential to the execution of these projects. In this session, we’ll examine the project needs, collaboration between BIM 360 software and ProjectWise, and automation with the Subassembly Composer, Dynamo, Forge, and LISP.

It's not. The Dynamo extension is for every Revit user. This lecture will describe the uses of the Dynamo extension and explain how it interacts with Revit software to help any Revit user. The Dynamo extension is a program that uses visual programming, but don't let that scare you. This lecture will teach attendees how to use the Dynamo extension even if they have no prior programming experience. Now that the Dynamo extension and DesignScript programming language have merged, the Dynamo extension is even easier to learn and use. This lecture will also give attendees very gradual doses of the Dynamo extension and visual programming so they leave with the skills to apply the Dynamo extension to practical Revit software workflows. And don't forget that the Dynamo extension is an add-on to Revit software.

I've taught this class many times, and it's actually up to 82 tips-but 60 in 60 sounds better. This fast-paced class is designed to give productivity tips to help users improve their modeling and documentation speed. Tips range from simple ones, like using the tab key and the chain selects, to more complicated ones, like selective use of the properties in view templates and modeling sloped topography. There's intentionally no use of tools like Dynamo or other plug-ins; this is about being as productive and efficient as possible with the native Revit software. The other benefit of this class is that most people attending Autodesk University will be asked to show what they learned to justify attendance. The technology and tools for computational design in the built environment have never been more powerful or progressive. To complement their specific discipline knowledge, the current and next generation of designers and engineers entering the global workforce are armed with skills ranging from sketching to programming to Building Information Modeling (BIM). As buildings have grown in complexity so too has the power and ubiquity of simulation tools used by different specialist disciplines, with information and processes getting more disconnected up until data is transferred to a common format for delivery. It is time to shift focus away from data toward the spaces between the data. By extrapolating recent innovations in structural engineering processes—such as real-time feedback and gesture-based simulation using Robot Structural Analysis software—we will explore the possibilities of multidisciplinary building simulation using visual programming applications such as Dynamo software to control Revit software and other packages.
