Virtual reality (VR) is often used as a tool to present a visualization of the final situation to a project team or the client. Within Dura Vermeer, however, VR is also used in another way: to hold virtual safety sessions. After all, in VR it is actually possible to "experience" an unsafe situation on the construction site. Based on the 4D model—which includes equipment, temporary situations, safety zones, and work zones—an export is made to VR. The foreperson and safety personnel use this VR model during a virtual safety session to investigate whether the project can be built safely. During this industry talk, we'll take you through Dura Vermeer's current processes for creating a VR model, and show you how we use VR to test whether we can construct a project safely. In addition, Dura Vermeer will be joined by a representative of Autodesk's XR team to discuss how Autodesk Workshop XR software is streamlining workflows and advancing this use case on active projects.

The infrastructure design industry has long struggled to minimize environmental impact. Traditional processes cause inefficiencies, hindering early-stage sustainability prioritization. ORIS and Sweco solved this by embedding ORIS's carbon assessment and emissions modeling capabilities into Autodesk Civil 3D software. ORIS's certified calculator streamlines processes, providing comprehensive impact assessments and quantifying embodied carbon emissions for road designs. The innovative plug-in connects drawings to local material sites in ORIS, empowering whole-lifecycle carbon assessments with visualized supply chains. It automates geolocated project generation linked to ORIS's database, identifies quantities per 3D object for bills of materials, and generates accurate carbon footprints based on required materials. Designers can make informed sustainable-sourcing decisions, reducing emissions while promoting local solutions and recycling. This integration solves long-standing sustainability challenges.

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, digital twins are revolutionizing traditional business models in the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO) industry. The technology is not only transforming the way businesses operate, but it's also paving the way for innovative business models, enabling organizations to gain a competitive edge in the global market. A digital twin is a physical object's virtual replica that connects static, spatial, and real-time data from the real-world counterpart to provide valuable insights for the user. It integrates with additional tools that may use machine learning and AI to provide additional value in asset operations and management. This panel will explore how companies are using digital twins to build innovative business models. The panelists will discuss how they are augmenting existing deliverables, creating business opportunities, and diversifying short- and long-term revenue streams while building whole-lifecycle relationships with their clients.

The global market for computing power is increasing exponentially, and the biggest challenge the industry faces is how to deliver the required physical infrastructure fast enough to keep up. For data center owners and operators—many of whom are the largest companies in the world—it is a strategic imperative that they find new ways to accelerate how they plan, design, construct, operate, and optimize their data center facilities. Autodesk provides a range of products that owners and operators can use to help meet these objectives, but they're rarely used in a fully integrated manner throughout the life of a data center. In this session, Gafcon Digital (an Accenture company) will demonstrate how Autodesk products are being deployed on behalf of data center owners and operators for a variety of processes throughout the lives of their facilities, showcasing the use of Autodesk applications (such as Revit software, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Autodesk Tandem software) and platforms.

Every asset owner wants to be in control of their assets and associated data. But how can we ensure that is data is up to date and correct so that it accurately translates to the correct information? How do we cope with changes, and can we ensure that the contractor or engineering firm receives the correct information? Additionally, there's a growing demand to make the data accessible and user-friendly in relation to geography. The Water Authority Drents Overijsselse Delta has made some changes to cope with this challenge. To create an accessible environment, it plots its assets on geographic information system (GIS) layers using ArcGIS GeoBIM. Additionally, the Water Authority wants to ensure that all its existing and new assets are being monitored correctly and are reliable according to national and organizational requirements. To achieve this goal, it's using the power of Autodesk Construction Cloud in combination with Cadac Control and Model Coordination.
